*whispers*
![]() anyone likes Doom patrol? I started a thread because a shitty musician just created something that will be a highlight of his life. ![]() If you are nice to me, I will share with you my pitch for Doom Patrol I wrote 5 years ago. Anyway, this is a Doom Patrol thread. Because they had it coming. It's their fault -------------------- formerly known as Chakal

Gerald Way, lead singer of My Chemical Romance and writer of Umbrella Academy and The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys. Fun fact: Grant Morrison appeared in the music videos "Sing" and "Na Na Na" as a cyborg assassin for a secret government group hunting down the Killjoys. Umbrella Academy is a really great read with amazing art from Gabriel Bá. |

The musician is some loser. I don't care. But the game itself is worth playing. Let's see. He is a failure. This comic book might redeem him. But I feel that he is a failure. I love Doom Patrol. Ask me anything. -------------------- formerly known as Chakal

Like I said, a nobody, a total failure. Let's see if he is good. Also, do you know, who Doom Patrol is? Plastic Man, should be the leader of Doom Patrol. Gerard Way sucks, but comic books might be his kingdom, depending on his talent. Doom Patrol is the final test. -------------------- formerly known as Chakal

Way's Doom Patrol might be one of the most frustrating comics to read. Dude needs to stop writing everyone as a manic pixie dream girl.
The only two people that sound somewhat normal is Cliff and Larry. |

Gerard Way is totally missing the point of Doom Patrol, apparently. Cliff is the only character who is supposed to be of relatively sound mind and talk like a normal person. The catch is Cliff is a typical guy stuck in a large, gold robot body. He has his hang ups about his predicament, but is the "rock" of the team. No one from Grant Morrison's Doom Patrol run was a manic pixie dream girl. He actually went to a sanitarium and chatted with a woman with severe schizophrenia so he could more accurately portray his original character "Crazy Jane." That character was modeled after the schizophrenic woman, and so too was Crazy Jane's "Conductor" personality. Morrison did take certain liberties with how schizophrenia really affects a person's mind, but he still went out and did the field work before starting his Doom Patrol run. Seriously, I don't know why so many people claim Grant Morrison "doesn't understand characters" because before taking any comic job he does serious research. He read every X-Men trade printed before beginning scripting New X-Men. He treats material from all comic eras with respect when he incorporates them into his modern day stories. Especially when writing DC comics. Grant Morrison really does love comics. |
