I just wanted to take a minute and write to you all off-the-cuff.
Lately there have been some pretty good return-to-form discussions about comics books popping up in their respective, appropriate threads (with the occasional organic digression), and that's awesome. Thanks for creating those conversations and/or taking part. We - as comic readers, analyzers, academics, etc. and members of this forum - need that. More of that, please. I'm by no means happy with the current state of things, and I find myself very rarely giving Marvel my money these days. But, it's nice to get away from the CompleX, Shithumans, and the disastrous ship currently being steered by Lemire, Soule, Bendis, et al. The ax gets hard to carry after a while. The quality and tone of the current DC regime and their Rebirth is helping, too, I think. Unfortunately, with the current climate of Marvel books - especially X-Men books - we're a very fragmented, scattered fandom. The reboot of CBR kind of won. It would be great if everyone started coming together again, getting back to discussing (and arguing) about the things we love that got us discussing (and arguing) in the first place: X-Men comics, characters, creators, covers, Claremontian subtext, etc. - hilarity, warts, occasional harmless scuffles, and all. Anyway, thanks again, thanks for hanging out here in general, and keep it up. Tell your friends. ![]() |

I'm going to be more active just to keep Marvel from winning.

Is this good?
Yeah, what the hell, gregyo!? Seriously, I have no delusions about the past being unique, or the value of a steady news outlet tied to the forum to feed such discussions. But, where the X-Men are concerned, I don't think the latter really exists anywhere right now. And, frankly, the pre-reboot X-Books posters still stand as the best. |

We should have a round of applause for Filthy Mutie stepping up as a moderator.
I've personally butted heads with him, but he's doing a darn good job. I'm just an asshole with deep seated issues and a gob I seem incapable of keeping closed. |

Sorry, starting my second year of teaching and the first one was pretty intense. It's easier now so I should have more time.
The big problem is I'm so apathetic about the books. |

I'm dumb - I watched that movie again like a week ago.
I empathize with your apathy. Believe it.
Hell yes.
I appreciate it, but I don't really do much. It's been tough to be excited, given the status quo of the X-Books, which are the core of my comic book fandom. (Doing rules-ish stuff doesn't count - that stuff sucks. No one wants to do it - well, no certain CBR mods love to do it, but whatever.) |
